This deep steamed green tea is grown and produced on Makinohara Plateau in Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan's largest tea-growing area.
The tea leaves produced in Shizuoka Prefecture are characterized by a good balance of umami, astringency, scents, and other elements. Blessed with conditions that nurture tea, the Makinohara Plateau is the most famous place in Japan for tea production.
Fukamushi Sencha is high quality sencha which has excellent flavor, beautiful deep green color, and a pleasant aroma.
Tea leaves of Fukamushi Sencha are steamed for longer than typical Sencha so that the tea is further infused with its ingredients, making its taste richer and mellower, and less bitter and less astringent than normal Sencha. The longer steaming time destroys the cells more than regular steaming and dissolves more nutritious element into the tea!
From Edo era to taishou era, beautiful woodcut print label was attached to the green tea packaging for export to US and other countries. The labels on these tins are the same designs as used in those days!
Please enjoy this green tea and tin! You can even showcase them in your room.
